Hazlewood officially ruled out of second Test | malcolmconn
The West Australian paceman, who has been in stunning Sheffield Shield form that has netted him 23 wickets at 13.43, is expected to edge out Michael Neser. Neser recovered from a hamstring strain to claim 5-29 and 2-36 in Australia A’s 112-run win over the England Lions at Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane.
Remarkably, almost none of those wickets came under lights during the day-night Test, with grass left on the drop-in wicket to encourage an even contest. But instead of India building a challenging lead during the afternoon when batting conditions are usually best, the metronomic accuracy of Hazelwood and Pat Cummins combined with their sharp pace and awkward bounce to dismantle the Indians in 21.2 overs.
