In Australia on a speaking tour, the man universally known as Shaq met Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Indigenous Affairs Minister Linda Burney in Sydney on Saturday to lend his support to the Indigenous Voice to parliament. “Congratulations to you guys and I want you to know that Shaq loves Australia,” the former NBA star said.

Burney said she was “really pleased and proud” that Shaq had sought out the meeting to discuss the government’s plan for a referendum: “He said it was a noble task. That it was important.” Indigenous Affairs Minister Linda Burney stretches her hand out to former basketballer Shaquille O’Neal.He said part of the push would involve getting sporting figures on board including from the AFL and NRL, as well as O’Neal.
