The Novavax vaccine could be approved for use in Australia within the next month Health Minister Greg Hunt has revealed.

Speaking on Wednesday, Health Minister Greg Hunt revealed he hoped to see the vaccine available early next year just a day after it was approved by the European Union on Tuesday.

If approved Nuvaxovid will be distributed alongside AstraZeneca which is a viral vector vaccine and Pfizer and Moderna which are mRNA jabs. Australia has pre-ordered 51 million doses of the Novavax vaccine which has proven to be highly effective against the virus in clinical trials.
