NSW Health has made a major change for incoming overseas travellers from countries of concern as restrictions for unvaccinated residents fall in line today with those who are double dosed.

Omicron cases have since spread across more than 50 countries in the world, including Australia.

A total of 85 Omicron infections have been confirmed in the state on Tuesday. More cases are expected with genome sequencing underway.Cases rose to a 10-week high on Tuesday with 804 new cases and the death of an unvaccinated woman in her 60s from the Albury area. At least 216 cases have been confirmed in the Newcastle region after suspicions a person from Sydney breached isolation rules and travelled north of the state and attended at least one nightclub where they spread coronavirus onto other patrons.
