Police have cordoned off a road and surrounded a house in Adelaide's north amid concerns for a person's welfare, with negotiators and heavily armed officers at the scene.

Heavily armed officers have surrounded a house in Adelaide's semi-rural northern outskirts amid concerns for a person "reported to be inside", police have said.

The road has been cordoned off and officers from the new Security Response Section and STAR group are currently outside the home. Police negotiators are also at the scene and "will attempt to make contact with any persons inside the house".
