Two Hungarian men were arrested at Perth Airport after their alleged plan to import heroin was exposed when one of them complained of stomach pain.

Two men, both 33 years old from Hungary, were charged with importing heroin after their alleged scheme was exposed when one of them complained of stomach pain. The men were selected for a baggage examination upon arrival at Perth Airport on Sunday. One of the men requested to go to the hospital due to stomach discomfort. Paramedics assessed them, and the Australia n Federal Police (AFP) was notified.

Both men were taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where one excreted 30 pellets containing an estimated 300g of heroin over a period of nine hours. The other man vomited up two pellets and then excreted another 29 pellets over 30 hours, with an estimated total weight of 310g. Investigators believe the combined weight of the pellets from both men to be 610g. The AFP estimates that this amount of heroin could have been sold as 3050 street deals, with a total potential street value of over $259,000. The AFP will allege that the pair swallowed the pellets before traveling to Australia. Both men were charged with importing a marketable quantity of a border-controlled drug, namely heroin, into Australia. The maximum penalty for this offense is 25 years’ imprisonment. One of the men appeared before Northbridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to reappear in court on January 6. The other man appeared before Northbridge Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody to reappear in court on February 14
