It's all over now for one of the NRL's biggest player agents! 😯 9WWOS
High-profile player agent Gavin Orr has had his appeal against the NRL's decision to cancel his accreditation dismissed.
The NRL appeals committee said on Thursday it had upheld the league's decision initially made in December.Managing NRL stars Daly Cherry-Evans, Jason Taumalolo and Payne Haas, Orr - who runs Pacific Sports Management with his brother Chris - was one of the game's most prominent agents.Orr launched an appeal after the NRL late last year pulled his accreditation for breaches including "knowingly aiding a breach of the NRL's salary cap rules".
But the appeals committee - chaired by Ian Callinan QC with panellists Michael Cleary and Max Krilich - dismissed Orr's appeal, describing Orr's conduct as a "serious contravention of the relevant rules". The committee said NRL CEO Todd Greenberg's decision to end Orr's accreditation was an "appropriate response".
"The Committee determined that ...Greenberg was entitled on the evidence before him to conclude that Mr Orr, in breach of his obligations under the NRL Accredited Agent Rules, had knowingly been involved in the payment of amounts to one of his players which were not disclosed to the NRL Salary Cap Auditor," an NRL statement said.
