Premier Peter Gutwein confirmed Tasmania will host its first Ashes Test but cricket legend Shane Warne is not happy about the match going to the southern state, suggesting 'you can't fit all the fans' in Hobart.
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said it was a unanimous decision by officials to give Bellerive Oval the nod.
The match was slated to be held in Perth but tough border and isolation requirements by Premier Mark McGowan forced Cricket Australia to look elsewhere. "They can't just bring wives and girlfriends with them, [there are] the same rules as we put in place for the AFL," he said.Cricket Australia put hosting rights for the match out to tender on Monday following its decision.
