Holiday and caravan park operators will enjoy their busiest Easter Holiday period since the onset of the pandemic.
The holiday park sector is becoming increasingly corporatised.Holiday and caravan park operators will enjoy their busiest Easter Holiday period since the onset of the pandemic, with bookings up 40 per cent compared with the same time last year, according to new analysis by accountants BDO.
Demand for holiday parks, which offer a wide choice of accommodation to suit all kinds of budgets including unpowered camping sites, caravan sites, glamping and luxury cabins, has been rising over the past two years after hitting a low point in 2020 following the bushfires disaster and then the onset of the pandemic.
Mr Jenner said both holiday cabins and sites were performing strongly, adding that there had been no deterioration in demand despite higher interest rates.“Holiday parks are really affordable for families looking for a holiday destination,” he said. “Not all parks take full payment upfront” Mr Strachan said. He also expected a surge in last-minute booking over the Easter long weekend.
“That 52 per cent occupancy rate includes unpowered and powered site. If you look at just cabins, occupancy is at 62 per cent, while its 48 per cent for powered sites and 17 per cent for unpowered sites,” he said.

‘Inevitably we will have airport chaos’: Aviation expert on Easter travellersAviation expert Geoffrey Thomas says Australia will ‘inevitably’ have airport chaos during the Easter long weekend. “It’s interesting – airports stress people out,” he told Sky News Australia. “There was a study done by Dr David Lewis in the United Kingdom … in 2007 and they surveyed people going through Heathrow Airport. “They found that the stress level of the participants was higher than a Formula 1 driver, higher than police facing rioters, and higher than a fighter pilot in combat.”
