The Australian Test squad for the Pacific Championships includes the Cowboys' Valentine Holmes despite the fact he will be suspended for the Kangaroos' opening game.

The Kangaroos squad for the upcoming Pacific Championships includes both Valentine Holmes and Josh Addo-Carr despite both players having involvements in off-field incidents requiring investigations.

Holmes has also been fined $25,000 and required to undertake "appropriate remediation" and attend education and training to be advised by the NRL. Latrell Mitchell, who was one of Meninga's most valuable players in last year's Rugby League World Cup, also played at the Koori Knockout but was not in the Kangaroos squad.

"He's got through that tournament well and I look forward to him having a good off-season and playing well next year. There was no room in Meninga's squad for Dally M Medallist Kalyn Ponga, Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards or Brisbane whiz Reece Walsh, with James Tedesco retaining the captaincy. Only three members of Penrith's grand final-winning squad — Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo and Nathan Cleary — are named.
