Homes and businesses have been destroyed and one man is seriously injured as two emergency bushfires continue to burn in south-west Western Australia. 9News

The two fires in Denmark and Bridgetown have together burned through almost 4700 hectares as more than 200 firefighters battle to bring the blazes under control.

"Although the weather appears to be easing for parts of the state the situation in the emergency warning areas continues to remain dire," Mr Dawson said.The Department of Fire and Emergency Services earlier today described the current conditions as "hellish". The DFES said there are unconfirmed reports of property damage. An assessment will be carried out today.

"Very hot and dry conditions will combine with fresh to strong and gusty northeast to northwest winds to the east of the trough over the Central Wheat Belt, Great Southern, southern Gascoyne, Stirling Inland, Stirling Coastal, Ravensthorpe Shire, Esperance Shire, Goldfields and inland parts of the Central West district," the BoM wrote.

"You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes," the warning from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said.Fire warnings are currently in place for Bridgetown-Greebushes and Denmark Shire.
