The bus company says it doesn't know how much the ticket should have been, although it could have charged a pony
A small horse was spotted climbing aboard a double-decker bus in scenes which left passengers baffled, and the bus company saying they are trying to work out how much the ticket should have been. Stagecoach has confirmed pets are sometimes allowed aboard its services, although it appears the pony tried to get aboard of its own accord.
The incident was caught on camera as the horse tried to board a number 57 from Exmouth to Exeter in Devon, reports DevonLive. Witnesses say the horse tried to get aboard the bus when it pulled up to the side of the road. One passerby said: "I was just parked in the car park in Brixington and spotted it happening. I didn’t hang about but a lady said it was just sticking its head in to say hello and then they came out and carried on its journey down the road.
A Spokesperson from Stagecoach South West said: “As you can imagine our driver was quite surprised to see a pony try to board the bus when it stopped in Exmouth last week. The driver pulled in to pick up passengers, when a person was walking past the bus with the pony and it decided to horse around by boarding the bus of its own accord."The pony was quite adamant that it wanted to take advantage of our current £2 fare offer but eventually decided to get off.
"Small pets, such as a dog, can usually travel with you on our buses. We are currently in discussions around what to charge the pony if it tries to get on board again, a fare of a couple of bucks has been suggested."
