A woman has been fined $1000 after dramatically escaping her hotel quarantine. 9News
NSW Police said the woman, 39, fled the Pitt Street accommodation, where she had been staying as part of, shortly before 10pm on Saturday. She had a "short struggle" with a security contractor near a fire escape before she pulled free and ran through the exit.
The guard pursued her on foot but lost sight of her before returning to the hotel to inform his boss, who told police also stationed at the hotel. After a brief search, officers found the woman at Circular Quay. They took her back to the hotel, from where she was then taken to hospital for assessment, before being transferred to another hotel managed by NSW Health.
Police also searched the woman's room and found the sprinkler systems had been "significantly damaged"., they said that legal action is "expected to be taken", pending inquiry into the damage. The woman, from Potts Point, has been issued with a Penalty Infringement Notice of $1000 for breaching the Public Health Order.
