Highs of 25C are expected
After days of glorious baking sunshine, a Met Office weather warning for thunderstorms comes into force in Greater Manchester at 2pm today - Saturday.
"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost The Met Office said on Friday the heatwave would continue into the weekend for much of southern England and Wales, with temperatures likely to peak close to 33C on Saturday, which would be the hottest day of the year so far.
