Pubs are at the centre of a COVID-19 cluster growing in Sydney, so what makes them so dangerous and how are they changing to stop the spread of COVID-19?
Pubs are at the centre of a COVID-19 cluster growing on Sydney's south-western outskirts, with the list of affected venues growing again today., but it is local watering holes that appear to have accelerated the spread, with the Crossroads Hotel, Picton Hotel, Macarthur Tavern and Wests League Club all forced to close after being linked to confirmed cases.
Unfortunately, the confined spaces — often indoors — are also conducive to transferring a virus between people and even groups who might otherwise keep their germs to themselves. In a Facebook post, Campbelltown's Macarthur Tavern confirmed a patron had tested positive for coronavirus.
