Huawei’s homage to the Apple AirPods Pro shares many of the same strengths, and weaknesses, as their more expensive rival.

This is a problem many of you would have experienced. I know this because readers of this column often contact the Digital Life Labs, complaining of this very thing.

But fully wireless earbuds are much too big to share your ear holes with putty, and in any case you would never be able to get them back into their case to recharge them.

It’s a slightly awkward gesture, but it does completely solve another of the problems we’ve found with tap-controlled wireless earbuds over the years: it’s too easy to tap them accidentally, and trigger some event you didn’t want triggered; and, obversely, it’s often too difficult to tap them the correct number of times even when you are trying to trigger some control.
