Queensland’s Chief Scientist says many people want to live more sustainably, and a sustainability showcase this weekend will help them find the best ways to do so.

Queensland’s Chief Scientist is hoping the people power that has proved so valuable to scientific research can be harnessed to help make our cities more sustainable.

In its second year, the event saw over five thousand people attend lectures and practical demonstrations of ways for individuals to improve sustainability in their everyday lives in 2021. It’s estimated there are currently more than 100,000 people are engaged in dozens of citizen science projects across Australia.

While that statistic may seem more like a novelty, Possingham said having that sort of information available for a wide range of species was vital to come up with conservation and management strategies.
