The 'Buck' supermoon will be the biggest of the year. 9News
July's supermoon will be the biggest of the year, and should provide an even more spectacular sight than last month's "Strawberry" moon. This full moon has actually already reached its peak, doing so at 4.38am on Thursday.NASA says the moon will appear full for "about three days", and Thursday night will still be an excellent sighting time – assuming the skies are clear of clouds in your area.
Right after sunset is going to be the best time to view today's supermoon, although unlike some celestial events, there's a fairly broad window when you'll be able to see it – it won't be over in a few minutes. "Unlike some astronomical events, there's not you've got to look at it this instant or else you miss it," Noah Petro, chief of NASA's Planetary Geology, Geophysics and Geochemistry Lab, said.
"There's really no moment that you have to be looking at it to maximise your enjoyment of the full moon." For the clearest views of the moon, Petro recommended avoiding areas surrounded by tall buildings and thick forestry.
