The Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) will consider a complaint made against Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, which accuses him of discrimination and inciting racial hatred through public statements following the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.

Nasser Mashni is among the group of complainants against Peter Dutton , whose case has been accepted by the Australian Human Rights Commission.

The group of 10 complainants include prominent Palestinian-Australian Nasser Mashni and Jewish Professor Peter Slezak. "Mr Dutton remains steadfast in his support for Jewish Australians, who have faced immense hardship over the past 15 months following Hamas' brutal attack on October 7."It is understood the AHRC formally accepted the complaint earlier this month, which means it will now assess whether the matter can be resolved through a process of conciliation.

Solicitor Moustafa Kheir said his clients were concerned by language used by someone who "may be the next prime minister".One of the comments complainants raised was from July last year, in which they claimed Mr Dutton suggested electing Muslim political candidates among other independents would be a "disaster".
