Communities in the Hunter and Upper Hunter will endure a further seven days of stay-at-home restrictions as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the regional LGA.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the seven-day lockdown extension after reporting multiple new cases in the area overnight.
The Hunter LGA was first plunged into lockdown on August 5 at 5pm and was originally scheduled to exit restrictions on Friday. Eleven residents from RFBI Hawkins Masonic Retirement Village in Edgeworth along with three staff members have tested positive to the infection.
