Heather Clark was in a fog of grief as she tried to navigate her way through finalising her husband's accounts and personal details after he died five months ago.

The four big banks were the first to sign on to the Australian Death Notification Service, while major telecommunications providers and the first utility provider, Sydney Water, will also join this month.
