North Melbourne bravely embodied the fight of comeback king Ben Cunnington, but ultimately ran out of soldiers in their endeavours to steal an upset of fast-finishing Adelaide. agerealfooty
With Cunnington, in his first AFL match in more than a year following two bouts of cancer, inspiring with his mere presence, and Luke Davies-Uniacke running absolute riot, the Kangaroos uncorked a sizzling second term to turn an early 23-point deficit into a 14-point lead early in the third stanza.Captain Jack Ziebell was substituted out in the third quarter after injuring his left shoulder in a side-on collision with Jordan Dawson.
For the quarter, North won the inside-50s 22-5, clearances 16-5 and centre clearances 8-0, Davies-Uniacke wreaking havoc. Dawson went from strength to strength, Shane McAdam excited before exiting late with a hamstring issue, Darcy Fogarty continued to impose in attack and Harry Schoenberg provided the moment of the match.
Schoenberg then spun around Aaron Hall and shrugged off Kallan Dawson to goal superbly from 45m to leave the wounded Kangaroos gasping and the Crows storming to their third successive win.Cam Zurhaar’s second goal, which tied the scores late in the third term, came on the back of one of the Roos’ slickest passages of play for the season.
