North Melbourne have offered Alastair Clarkson a long-term deal of at least five years to coach the Kangaroos.had offered the four-time premiership coach a deal that would be a minimum of five years to coach the AFL club at which he first played.
Their pursuit of Clarkson is also founded in the belief that if they landed him, he would provide a hitherto struggling team with far greater cachet and greatly enhance their prospects of attracting and retaining players and staff. Clarkson made a presentation to the Giants’ trio of chief executive David Matthews, chairman Tony Shepherd and football chief Jason McCartney last week, having had previous discussions with the club.
