Some Brisbane Uber customers were hit with a fee for the Go Between Bridge on the weekend when tolls were meant to be waived.

A carefree Uber ride into West End for dinner with friends and returning home without any drama was all Brisbane’s Justin Nicholas wanted on Saturday night.Uber hit customers with a toll fee for the Go Between Bridge on a weekend when tolls were meant to be waived. He was told by his Uber drivers the trips would be free of toll charges on the Go Between Bridge because of weekend work on the William Jolly Bridge.

Brisbane City Council warned drivers three weeks ago of the William Jolly Bridge closure, offering “designated detour routes, including the Go Between Bridge”.Advertisement “It’s such a bad example. For me, $3.55 isn’t that much to me but I have so many family and friends doing it tough,” he said. “We weren’t aware of waived toll fees on the ‘Go Between Bridge’ between May 26-29, meaning riders were automatically charged a toll fee on these trips,” she said.
