Hong Kong superstar Zac Purton can’t wait to be a part of Everest day and is confident In Secret can have him taking home the trophy.
There is not much that can make Hong Kong champion jockey Zac Purton homesick for Australia, but on each of the first six Everest days, he yearned to be at Randwick.
“Everyone at home talks about it. You see the quality of horse that run in it and the publicity it gets all year around. It has become an important race not just in Sydney but around the world.”Purton is hunting for the most all-time winners in Hong Kong after riding 100 in a season on seven occasions, a feat achieved only by two other jockeys.
“The owners really wanted to concentrate on it and focus on it after he was unlucky in the race last year. They are going to travel him next year and The Everest could be on the agenda then with a little luck. Purton was in demand after the In Secret booking and will ride Light Infantry in both the King Charles and the Cox Plate later in the month.
