Victorian father Shane Wall, whose missing 14-year-old son William was found dead about 1 kilometre from their Launching Place home, has written a heart-breaking message of thanks to those who helped search for the boy.Police are not treating William's death as suspiciousWilliam, who had high-functioning autism, was reported missing on Tuesday after leaving his home at Launching Place, east of Melbourne, about 6:45am for his regular walk on the Warburton Trail.
"I wish I had better news regarding our beautiful and caring son and brother William Wall," Mr Wall wrote in a Facebook post today."We don't know how to begin to thank everyone who searched and supported us in the last 48 hours the list is endless.William Wall's body was found on Wednesday, a day after he was reported missing.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and Prime Minister Scott Morrison have both offered their condolences to the family. During his daily coronavirus update this morning, Mr Andrews took a moment to acknowledge the Wall family's grief."I know that this will be a terrible time for that family, and to every member of William's family, we say how sad we are, and that we share in your grief, in your loss and any support that we can provide to you, we of course stand ready to do that."
