IBAC investigators say a former mayor of Moonee Valley City Council repeatedly accepted drugs in exchange for progressing property applications.

The IBAC report said Cameron Nation accepted drugs in exchange for helping a developer with planning applications. Cameron Nation accepted cocaine and Xanax in exchange for progressing planning applications while mayor of Moonee Valley council, according to a report tabled in state parliament.

IBAC said it also discovered Mr Nation and two other Moonee Valley councillors used their positions to favour a local soccer club, while receiving undisclosed dinners and a free club membership. The report said Mr Nation first befriended the "construction manager" in 2020, who regularly supplied him and his partner with cocaine and Xanax.

It said that in June 2021, the construction manager messaged Mr Nation, stating: 'Can u check where it is at please … I will fix u up … 7 of the best'. Investigators said Mr Nation and councillors Jacob Bettio and Narelle Sharpe received complimentary club memberships valued at $250, and free dinners at a restaurant owned by the soccer club's president, which were not disclosed by the councillors.Instagram: narellesharpemvThe report said there was evidence that bribes for the three council members were discussed by the Essendon Royals's president and his associate, the construction manager.The construction manager: Get them to pay: ….
