An ICAC inquiry has heard a recording between former MP Daryl Maguire and a Japanese Consul regarding the procurement of a number of possible Japanese investors for an infrastructure network at Badgerys Creek.

ICAC inquiry hears Maguire spoke to Japanese Consul to secure investors for Smart West infrastructure network "You've got to get your commercial people to find the companies that are expressing interest in the infrastructure network and you let me know and I'll put them all together," he said in the recording. "The Chinese are moving all over the place and people are getting concerned they have too much influence.

This infrastructure is around the airport and I think they have a preference with some of our closest friends they can rely on. "Someone from South Korea or a Japanese company is reliable, trustworthy and good to do business with and at times of trouble we can depend on you and vice versa." Mr Maguire confirmed he had facilitated the sale of Smart West land at Badgerys Creek in the hopes he would receive a commission from Louise Waterhouse.
