The International Criminal Court has requested an arrest warrant for Myanmar's military leader, Min Aung Hlaing, for alleged crimes against humanity committed against Rohingya Muslims. The decision has been welcomed by Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh have celebrated a decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to request an arrest warrant for Myanmar 's military leader, Min Aung Hlaing . The warrant is based on alleged crimes against humanity , including persecution and deportation of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar to Bangladesh. After a five-year investigation, ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan has applied for the warrant.
Khan states there are reasonable grounds to believe Min Aung Hlaing is responsible for crimes against humanity committed between August 25, 2017, and December 31, 2017, involving the deportation and persecution of Rohingya people
