Olympian Michael Klim has called on Australians to roll up their sleeves and donate plasma in the wake of a shocking diagnosis which has left him struggling to walk.

The six time Olympic medal winning swimmer was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy nearly four years ago which has seen predominantly all the muscles below his knee deteriorate.

Michael Klim was involved in Australia's famous"smash 'em like guitars" victory in the Men's 4x100m freestyle relay at the Sydney Olympics. “There was a process I went through which I suggest most people have to go through, the acceptance of our current state is something very important, accepting where we are and where potentially we can be going,” he said.
