Israel Defence Forces International Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus provides additional details on what an assault in Gaza could look like as Israel attempts to hunt down Hamas' leaders.
Israel issued a warning on Friday for civilians in northern Gaza to leave ahead of an anticipated incursion, providing an initial window of just 24 hours to evacuate 1.1 million people from the region.
The IDF official warned that Hamas has had time to prepare for all Israeli offensives and any attack would require lots of resources. “It will definitely be more intense and high pace of operations and we will try to, in a swift and decisive way, reach Hamas commanders, kill as many as possible – Hamas terrorists – and, while inflicting minimal damage to civilians and infrastructure, simply dismantling Hamas,” he told Sky News Australia.
“It sounds short and you can say it in a sentence but unfortunately reality on the ground most likely will be an extended period of time.”
