BREAKING: An incident is unfolding at a jail in Sydney’s southeastern suburbs, with riot officers firing tear gas that is affecting people in nearby homes.
Live vision of Long Bay Correctional Facility shows prisoners laying on the ground handcuffed and heavily armed guards patrolling the yard.
It’s believed a significant amount of tear gas was fired during the incident, which occurred about 12.30pm. Residents nearby in the suburb of Malabar have complained of burning eyes, noses and throats as a result of the gas wafting from the prison and into their homes. Some say they heard yelling over the loudspeaker telling inmates to get on the ground and face the fence.An incident is unfolding at a jail in Sydney’s southeastern suburbs.
