West Australian authorities are urgently working out how to remove a very sick crew member, suspected of having COVID-19, from a cargo ship currently sitting off Rottnest Island.
The Darya Krishna cargo ship sailed to Perth from Singapore and IndonesiaWA Premier Mark McGowan said eight out of the 19 crew members on board the Darya Krishna had reported flu-like symptoms, but were yet to be tested for the virus."They will have to work out how to get him off and get him some medical care," Mr McGowan said."We are working out how to get him off, whether by medevac or by boat, whatever it might be.
"That is currently a process that is ongoing over the next couple of hours, before the weather comes in at lunchtime, so there will need to be urgent action around that."The Hong Kong-flagged Darya Krishna sailed from Singapore and was in Indonesia before that.Mr McGowan said he wanted the remaining crew members to be tested for COVID-19 and for them to remain on board the ship.
A separate ship, the BBC California, which moored at Fremantle port on Tuesday last week, this morning had eight COVID-19 cases remaining on board, after two crew members recovered.Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.
