India has moved closer to its historic first human-crewed space mission, Gaganyaan, with a successful test of the emergency escape system of its new crew capsule on Saturday.The test, dubbed TV-D1, was conducted at 10:00 a.m. local time from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on Sriharikota island, off the southeast coast of India. It involved launching an unpressurized prototype of the Gaganyaan crew module and its attached crew escape system on a specially designed liquid-fueled rocket.
