“This is the clear definition of a woman. There was never any doubt about them being women... We will not participate in a politically motivated culture war.” However, there have been doubts about the IBA’s decision as the organisation has refused to officially disclose the details. “All this controversy certainly made me sad and I also felt sorry for my opponent, she had nothing to do with it and like me was only here to fight,” she said.
At his press conference, Mr Bach pointed to credibility issues surrounding the IBA, which has been stripped of its recognition by the IOC due to numerous irregularities. The Associated Press reported the IBA has been plagued by “judging scandals, bizarre leadership decisions and innumerable financial misdeeds”.
