Jewish leaders have slammed the Albanese government for its inaction on antisemitism, which reached its height last week after a Melbourne synagogue was firebombed.

Jewish leaders have voiced their"visceral anger" over the"socialist left" Albanese government's inaction on antisemitism after a Melbourne synagogue was significantly damaged in a firebombing attack.

Melbourne Jewish resident and community leader Menachem Vorchheimer said the antisemitism “won’t stop there” after the firebombing on the Abass Israel synagogue in Melbourne. Picture: Sky News Australia "...And the atrocities that occurred at the synagogue in Melbourne clearly were designed to create fear in the community and therefore, from my personal perspective, certainly fulfil that definition of terrorism."

Mr Vorchheimer said Australia had a “socialist left government” which had a “deep-seated hatred” for the state of Israel. “This is not a surprise. This didn't come out of nowhere. We've seen all the markers for 14 months. We saw sorted the“The fact that this government is using weasel words rather than calling for what it is, domestic terrorism, is why we are where we are.”

“I hope that all reasonable Australians will find that what's happened with the crisis of antisemitism and it's not just attacking Jews, it's also attacking Christian events, the Myer shop windows, the Carols by Candlelight last year, the attack on Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel,” he said“We are very angry about it.”

The AJA president said some of the policies articulated by President-elect Donald Trump were “fantastic” with the Jewish community hoping there would be a flow-on effect on Australia.
