The first major poll since Jacinta Allan took over the leadership of Victorian Labor has revealed she is well ahead of John Pesutto in the preferred premier stakes.
The Resolve Strategic poll published in The Age on Thursday showed 38 per cent of those surveyed supported Ms Allan compared to Liberal leader Mr Pesutto.
Ms Allan's popularity is slightly less than her predecessor's, who was picked as preferred premier by 41 per cent of those polled in September. The latest poll comprised 1100 Victorians and included both the few weeks before and after Mr Andrews quit as premier on September 26. "And right now the thing that matters the most is making sure that we're building more homes, increasing the supply of homes, increasing the number of social and affordable homes so Victorians have the dignity of a roof over their head."
"It's interesting when a private citizen who travels overseas makes the news, but here we are," Ms Allan said.October 11, 2023
