Western Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan expresses optimism about returning to training after taking personal leave. He details his struggles with family loss and balancing training while emphasizing his current happiness and dedication to his fitness. Ugle-Hagan will miss the Bulldogs' season opener but hopes to rejoin training soon.
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan says he feels “the happiest I’ve ever been” as he eyes off a return to training with the Western Bulldogs . The 22-year-old forward is spending this weekend in Perth with the Indigenous All Stars but will not line up in the AFL exhibition clash. Speaking for the first time since it was revealed he was taking personal leave from the Bulldogs, Ugle-Hagan said he is excited to be in camp alongside the likes of Charlie Cameron, Bobby Hill and Bradley Hill.
He’ll need a strong training block back at the Kennel, which could start as soon as next week, before he is considered for selection. “I feel like I’m fit, I’m healthy,” he said. “Obviously I feel like I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. But I don’t know what’s happening. “Right now I’m just going to take it day by day. Obviously going to enjoy this trip, look after the little kids that look up to me and just have fun. “We’ll just see what happens and hopefully I’m back training on Monday.
