Oliver and Penguin Random House UK conceded that no consultation with any Indigenous organisation, community or individual took place before the book was published.

British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has apologised and withdrawn a children's book he wrote after it was criticised for stereotyping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The book, Billy And The Epic Escape , drew accusations of being damaging and disrespectful.

Deputy Chair and Commissioner of the Yoorrook Justice Commission and Wurundjeri and Ngurai Illum Wurrung woman Sue-Anne Hunter said Mr Oliver's book was concerning for a number of reasons: "The complete lack of consultation with First Nations peoples, despite the book heavily featuring their culture and experiences.
