New Zealand Nationals MPs have elected a new leader in an emergency caucus on Monday night after former leader Todd Muller announced his immediate resignation yesterday morning.

Former Police and Corrections Officer Judith Collins was appointed as the new National leader despite not receiving the support of the whole party. Ms Collins reassured voters the party was “absolutely back on track” and was prepared to “take the fight to the government” in the upcoming election. When asked how she would go about uniting a divided caucus, she said the party would come together over a common goal which was to remove the Ardern government.
