A woman has been dragged for several metres while trying to stop a shirtless man stealing a car with a child inside. The terrifying moment on Great Eastern Hwy near Gatacre Dr in the Kalgoorlie –Boulder suburb of Somerville, 600km northeast of Perth, was one of two similar thefts in the area in the space of 15 minutes.
Shocking moment car with child inside stolen east of Perth. Security cameras captured the man sprinting towards an orange Kia Sportage before he hopped in through the open driver’s side door about 4.05pm on Wednesday. A woman chased after him, opening the car door and clinging on as the vehicle took off in a cloud of smoke and dust. Inside the car was a child. “Shortly after, the child was located safe and well by police,” WA Police said.
