World champion George Kambosos Jr initially came in above the required weight for his lightweight undisputed world title fight against Devin Haney but managed to save the megafight at the last minute.
The 28-year-old called for a towel and stripped naked at the first weigh-in but came in at 135.36 pounds a minuscule 139 grams over the limit putting Sunday’s mega fight at Marvel Stadium in jeopardy.
The American has a record of 27-0 and holds the WBC title which is the only belt Kambosos doesn’t have. “It was easy, I chilled out I was about to have a Greek coffee I thought ‘you know what, let me go make the weight’ now I’m going to have a Greek coffee,” he said.“Everything is for a cause, everything is for a process. Trust me tomorrow, just be here.

I’m ready, more than ready.” Tempers erupted when Kambosos missed weight at the first attempt with members of Haney’s team shouting jibes at the champion.“He didn’t make weight. I’m a true champion and true champions make weight.
