Shadow Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews says she still doesn’t understand the rationale behind former prime minister Scott Morrison’s decision to secretly swear himself into five ministerial portfolios.

“Because if you look at putting in place contingencies, that’s always a good thing to do,” Ms Andrews told Sky News Australia. “I would never have had an issue with contingencies being put in place, but they needed to be done in a manner that was transparent and that went towards good governance. “I would never have had an issue with contingencies being put in place, and nor would I in the future.”

Ms Andrews has previously called for Mr Morrison to resign from Parliament, following revelations the former prime minister took on the portfolios of health, finance, home affairs, treasury and resources, in addition to his role as the head of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
