An elderly man is fighting for his life in intensive care after his wife's pleas for medical help after he fell ill in hotel quarantine in Perth were unanswered for hours.

WA Health Minister Roger Cook said the couple's case and the delays getting Mr Watson to hospital would be investigated."Some things have not gone the way they should have, but we have put measures in place now to ensure that does not occur.It is a problem creating headaches for authorities around the world — what to do with hundreds of foreign passengers aboard a cruise ship infected with coronavirus.

"He said: 'The doctors say they've got to put me to sleep and I possibly won't come out of it'," Mrs Watson said."I don't think they want to give me false hope.
