NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee says NSW Treasurer and Energy Minister Matt Kean has been “very pragmatic” on the state’s energy situation over the past few weeks.
He said the NSW government has also “kept its commitment” to not increase royalty rates in this term of government.
“And they’ve delivered record royalties for the people of NSW without doing that,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “Unlike what has happened in Queensland today with a devastating, potentially investment-wrecking, job-destroying royalty grabbing up in that state. “So I’ll give the Treasurer of NSW some credit for the actions he has taken in the past few weeks in relation to our sector.”
