The two-storey penthouse was for decades maintained as a private retreat for Packer as a home away from his family compound, Cairnton in Bellevue Hill, reportedly with a chef, chauffeur, nurse and housekeeper in attendance until he died on Boxing Day, 2005. The Barangaroo tower this week secured its second-highest apartment sale when retired colonel Andrew MacNab and his wife Melanie settled on the whole-floor spread directly below Trethowan for $44 million.
