King Charles has made a surprise move with his annual Christmas Day message in a touching nod to those who cared for the monarch since his cancer diagnosis, and in hopes of uniting the world.King Charles has broken from tradition to film his third annual Christmas Day message from a former hospital chapel instead of a royal residence. The monarch recorded his speech earlier this month at the Fitzrovia Chapel in London which will be beamed across the United Kingdom and the world on Wednesday.
The building once served as the chapel of the Middlesex Hospital and continues to be an'enriching cultural space for creative health and wellbeing', its website states, and is used for exhibitions and community events of all faiths and those who are agnostic. It is widely understood the change in location for King Charles is a sweet gesture to health care workers who have been treating him since his February cancer diagnosis.A photo released from the day of filming shows the 76-year-old standing alongside a donated Christmas tree inside the 19th century former chapel. The last time the Christmas message was recorded outside of Buckingham Palace was in 2006 when the late Queen Elizabeth filmed it at Southwark Cathedral. Three years earlier, King Charles' mother taped it at Combermere Barracks, in Windsor, when the Iraq war started, involving British, American and Australian troops.
