Former NT police officer Zachary Rolfe says he is 'ready to move on' during questioning at the coronial inquest into the police shooting of Kumanjayi Walker, but says he feels 'very badly' for his family.

Former NT police constable Zachary Rolfe has told the Kumanjayi Walker inquest he is not "angry" about the coronial process, but "bored".

Mr Rolfe argued at trial that he was acting in self-defence, good faith and in the reasonable performance of his duties when he fired three shots at Mr Walker during an attempt to arrest him in the remote Aboriginal community of Yuendumu, 300 kilometres from Alice Springs.Under questioning from Ian Freckelton KC, the barrister representing the NT Police Force, at the inquest, Mr Rolfe accepted it would be difficult for members of the Yuendumu community to move on.

He told the coroner he had a "generalised view" that police officers based in remote communities were, at times, "lazy".
