Kyrgios posted to Instagram after the draw with the message, "My brother let's give 'em a good show."
Kyrgios will start as a hot favourite against Kokkinakis, with the Wimbledon runner-up the fourth favourite to take out the tournament, behind defending champion Daniil Medvedev, reigning Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal, and young gun Carlos Alcaraz. Should the pair advance that far, Kyrgios and Medvedev will meet in the fourth round. The Australian won their most recent encounter, in Montreal in early August.But making the round of 16 won't be straightforward for Kyrgios, who faces a potential second round match against Ugo Humbert, and a likely clash with Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round.
Humbert has pushed Kyrgios to five sets in their two most recent meetings, at the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2021. Kyrgios, meanwhile, hasn't beaten Bautista Agut since 2015, with the Spaniard winning the last two matches between the pair.
