Are the Greens really willing to line up and block a third carbon policy, with the help of Peter Dutton, Barnaby Joyce and the Coalition?
Labor at least went to the election with the shell of a policy, in the Abbott-era safeguard mechanism. Big polluters buy or receive credits for going over or getting under a baseline of emissions. The energy transition is a bridge that needs to be supported at both ends, with fossil fuel investment maintained while renewables are ramped up.
